Introducing Claire Bradley, MA

Claire Bradley, MA, is the Director of Irish Studies at the International Institute of Genealogical Studies. She is currently working on updating the existing Irish courses, with a plan to write some new courses to add to the certificate.  Her expertise is in Irish Genealogy and Autosomal DNA.

Claire hosts our monthly Irish Records as well as our DNA Virtual Meetings. Several of Claire’s Virtual Meetings have been added to our YouTube channel for both students and the public to view.  They have proven to be quite popular, amassing hundreds of views in a short time.

Her two presentations at RootsTech 2024 were very popular, with many people attending. For her first presentation, “Anatomy of a Hint”, she examined the various hints that come up on Ancestry. The second presentation was, “Getting Started with Irish Records”, a close look at Irish Civil Registration.

Claire’s interest in genealogy began at the age of 12 when she was given a school assignment to learn about her family history.  Genealogy quickly became one of her passions after completing the assignment with the help of her grandparents.

Claire’s education in genealogy is quite impressive. She has a Certificate in Genealogy from the University College Dublin, which she took over three years. She also holds a Master of Arts in History of the Family from the University of Limerick. She is currently studying Y DNA to expand her knowledge in the fascinating world of genetic genealogy.

You can find Claire at cbgenealogy.ie where she shares interesting tidbits about genealogy and the many services she offers to clients. She can also be found in the Dublin area giving talks to various groups or wandering around the city taking in the breathtaking scenery, checking out cemeteries, and admiring the historic architecture.

Along with genealogy, Claire also enjoys yoga and is a passionate knitter.

Fun Fact about Claire: she is a BIG fan of Star Trek!
