Research Your Home!

Every home has a story to tell – a history to be shared with others.

Do you know the history of your home?

Has it been in your family for generations?

Are you carrying on the legacy of your family farm?

What You Wil Learn:

Each module focusses on a different aspect of home and property research. You’ll begin with architectural glossaries and styles then move on to discussions about several of the companies who offered mail order homes and house kits.

Mapping out properties, documents including transfer books, property description and court records are examined, as well as following the trails of the people who have previously lived there. Farm research includes the Homestead Act of 1862, Agricultural Schedules, and Centennial Farms.
