Irish: Understanding Ireland, History and Source Records, has been updated and may give you the clues you are looking for to find your family’s history.

What You Will Learn:

Your course begins with a brief history of Ireland, research challenges you may face and strategies to overcome them. Course discussions include the administrative divisions of Ireland including Civil and Ecclesiastical divisions, place names, and the location and contents of records. Historical land divisions, naming conventions and research principles are also explored.

The course appendix lists family history societies and Civil Registration Districts for Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

This course can be taken for personal interest or as an elective. It is included in the Irish Records Certificate.
