This course focuses on preparing your presentation dissertation. It’s a “hands-on” course where you develop all aspects of the dissertation, including the biographical sketch, marketing your specialty, handout material, creating presentation slides; and much more. To take this course, you should have either a PLCGS post nominal from the International Institute of Genealogical Studies or a Bachelor's degree in history or family history or equivalent from another institution. If you're not sure, please book a student advising appointment through the chat app with Angela Breidenbach, Executive Director and Master-leve Professor for Specialties Studies.
In order to complete this course, the student must develop and give a 45-minute presentation to an audience of students and invited guests via Zoom. Your dissertation is a presentation of your expertise on a topic of your choice within the religious records area, showcasing that expert topic builds credibility to clientele and the industry.
You will receive the recorded session to continue building your expert reputation. Collaborating on our YouTube channels would be a great way to share your dissertation publicly. That will be your decision once you’ve finished the course.
