Elective credit course-1 Regular Credit

Elective Credits are available for purchase without specifying a course. You can do this later in your student account. The elective credits are $125.00 USD, but if you purchase 3 or more the small package discount will apply as well as if you purchase 6 or more, the large package discount will apply. Simply add to your cart, then change the number to what you'd prefer prior to purchasing the general electives.

Can I buy electives for someone else? Absolutely. We'd need to know who you are buying for so we can connect the gift to their student account. Please drop a note in the chat app or call 800.580.0165 x1 and talk to Angie so she can help you direct the gift to the right person. (And what an amazing, thoughtful gift you're choosing!)

Important note: Certain courses do not apply to this elective. They are Analysis and Skills 1, 2, and 3, Latin for Genealogists, and Lecturing Skills and Librarianship courses, Each of these mentioned courses are a little higher cost due to mentoring or additional work by instructors.

Choose an elective course to enhance your specific education plan to use as an additional general elective credit for any course up to $125.00 USD. You can build the amount of credits you like by changing the number in your cart.

To use your electives: (it's a little different than compulsory courses in Purchase History.)
1. Click on the down-arrow beside Buy Courses/Books in the top navigation bar.
2. Click Electives (Or click any of the certificate choices instead, if using electives for another certificate).
3. In Electives (or Certificate of choice): Each course displayed with the description and 2 buttons. 
     If you have taken the course, it will be grayed out and unavailable. If you have not taken the course and it is not in your Purchase History package, then you will see 2 buttons. 
     Below the elective button you can see how many electives you have left.
4. Choose "Activate using elective" to take the course. 
      Then it will offer you a date to start. You can choose the day you are activating it or a future date.
5. Once it opens, it will be in your My Courses area.
     NOTE:  If you choose the same day you're activating, it will show up in your My Briefcase/My Courses. If you choose a future date, it will show in the Grades list where you can change the future date as you wish until it opens.
